The previous daffodil painting was done inside late at night and I didn’t think it captured the freshness of the daffodils. So today I went outside into the garden to paint in the warm sun. I wanted to try to capture a daffodil in a looser more flowing style. There was one daffodil growing among flowering rosemary and I thought rosemary would make a lovely contrasting backdrop.

I love how the background of rosemary turned out, but not so happy with the actual daffodil. As often happens I forgot to stop and to wait patiently for the first wash to dry before adding small sharp details.
Did you know that rosemary has lovely blue-purple flowers? I only discovered this last spring.
